Community Engagement and Public Relations VISTA

The VISTA will be an integral part in helping to create a strong foundation for the newly formed Garfield, Eagle, and Pitkin County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD). A COAD is an organization, based within a community or geographic area, which is composed of representatives from public, private and not-for-profit agencies. COADs will use community disaster education, local emergency management plans, and the expertise of its members to bring holistic disaster awareness to its community. This opportunity will allow our VISTA to be on the ground floor to help create an Operations Manual and standard operating procedures, participate in leadership meetings, build a website and social media presence and create a plan for community engagement and education.
