City of Austin Youth Initiatives Data VISTA 2023

The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Member Duties : Finalize the system to collect and track the data of eleven Youth Initiatives programs. Learn the updated system and note any ways to make it more efficient, then implement those changes. Fill any remaining gaps in collected data. Train Youth Initiatives Office program coordinators on how to use the data collection system and how to properly collect data to help maintain the database. Use the refined data collection system to create data profiles for each Youth Initiatives program that doesn’t already have one and update the data profiles that already exist. Create outreach plans for all remaining Youth Initiatives programs. Use each program’s data profile to find recruitment gaps. Create a list of populations the programs want to be more represented. Potential factors include race, income, community, and disability. Determine the best methods for filling these gaps. Prepare the Youth Initiatives Office and their community partnerships for the conclusion of the VISTA project.
