Austin Housing & Planning Department Data Analysis VISTA
 
 
 
The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Member Duties : Refine the City of Austin Housing & Planning Department’s (HPD) Affordable Housing tools to allow for ease-of-use, both internally and for the public. Create and update maps with programs like ArcGIS and PowerBI to help government, businesses, and partners make data-informed decisions about affordable housing. Ensure Affordable Housing tools are equitable. Write standard operating procedures for Affordable Housing tools. Improve the City of Austin’s demographics website to make sure each demographic is properly represented. Ensure the City’s demographic data is up-to-date and accurate. Create training materials to teach government agencies and the public easily access population-based data from the US Census and other sources. Create systems to allow the Affordable Housing tools and demographics website to be updated regularly and in a timely manner. Prepare Austin’s Housing & Planning Department and their community partnerships for the conclusion of the AmeriCorps VISTA project.
