2024-25 NYS Trauma Informed Care Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
Join a team of professionals responsible for creating and implementing policy and programs emphasizing primary and secondary prevention efforts, who oversee initiatives targeting at risk populations across the lifespan with the goal of advancing a robust and comprehensive prevention agenda. The goal of this VISTA position is to support implementation of a trauma informed approach within the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) located in Albany, NY. The VISTA member place at OMH will serve as point of contact for staff within OMH, including the State Operated Facilities and will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive inventory of Trauma Informed Care Practices (i.e., what training models are being used, how is practice incorporated in policy etc.) throughout the agency. The candidate will also be responsible for identifying and reporting gaps and areas for improvement. Desired Qualifications: • A bachelor's degree in a human service-related field • Knowledge and experience with the development of databases • Clear communication skills in both verbal and written format • Experience with the development of mapping and social marketing • Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.

Member Duties : • Become oriented to the organizational structure of NYS Office of Mental Health and its role in New York State Government including key partner organizations and agencies. • Develop an understanding of Trauma Informed approach that promotes resiliency and recovery. • Identify and collect information on all pertinent projects and evidence-based practices related to the use of a trauma-informed approach and provision of trauma specific treatments that are used throughout NYS Office of Mental Health. • Develop a database to track the Trauma Informed resources/trainings/ treatments available throughout NYS Office of Mental Health. • In collaboration with members of the team, this position will serve as the NYS Office of Mental Health point of contact to update NYS Office of Mental Health resources on the NYS Trauma-Informed Network (NYS TIN). • Establish a process for maintaining the database.
