Summer Education Coordinator Boys & Girls Club MetBaltimore
 
 
 
This coming summer the Boys & Girls club will be hosting a 6 weeklong camp for the youth of Baltimore city. While our youth are at our camp, we hope to build their learning and understanding in our three priority outcomes: Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles. It is with this mindset that we are looking to strengthen our Academic success programs with Summer Education Coordinators. Those VISTA members in this position will work with staff to develop and assist in our summer literacy and reading comprehension program and our STEM education and mentoring program. In our Summer literacy and reading comprehension program the VISTA member will assist with literacy building lessons and tracking their reading comprehension through programs created by the organization and themselves. STEM education and mentoring programs VISTA members will help assist and co-facilitate these programs with the lead staff member. They will help guide youth through experiments and assist in building the youths knowledge and understanding on newly presented topics.

Member Duties : Responsibilities • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development. • Promote and stimulate program participation for youth. • Provide appropriate guidance and direction through supportive relations with members. • Provide quality education program activities and experiences that promote a sense of purpose and individual empowerment for members. • Foster an environment that offers choices, incorporates team building, and promotes a sense of belonging and group identity for youth. • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly club staff meetings and strives to work as a team. • Understands and follows the BGCMB safety policies and procedures.
