Agricultural Education Assistant Promotion VISTA
 
 
 
The VISTA will help increase agricultural literacy for Essex County youth, increase awareness and knowledge of local farms and food businesses for Essex County youth, develop hands-on, immersive activities for youth to learn about agriculture, local food, STEM, nutrition, and animal science, strengthen visibility and reach of 4-H and Farm to School programming, events, and resources, and increase the number of enrolled 4-H youth.

Member Duties : Help develop engaging curriculum for Essex County K-12 schools related to 4-H and Farm to School programs. Implement taste tests of local food in conjunction with the Harvest of the Month program in Essex County school cafeterias. Research and implement best distribution methods for educational materials. Plan agriculture and local food related youth activities at the Adirondack Harvest Festival. Assist with 4-H animal science programming including but not limited to, dog obedience training and the Essex County Agricultural Fair. Assist with program planning for Summer Youth Programs throughout Essex County towns and villages. Work with 4-H clubs to plan programming, as well as increase membership and engagement. Develop engaging and creative articles and videos (if skills apply) for outreach and education.
