LaunchNW Volunteer Engagement VISTA, Innovia Foundation

This project is supervised by Innovia Foundation, which aims to ignite generosity that transforms lives and communities in the areas of arts and culture, economic opportunity, education and youth development, health and wellbeing, and quality of life. This project aims to break the cycle of poverty and drive economic vitality in the region by uniting student and family supports from education to career. Using a promise scholarship to cover gaps in funding needed to attend college or other post-secondary programs as incentive, the initiative is a bold, cross-sector collaboration that brings together regional partnerships to develop a holistic solution to the issues our region is working to solve. The initiative breaks down silos and connects existing community resources together, realigning resources to best serve students and their families from preschool through high school in preparation for post-secondary educational opportunity. The Year 1 VISTA member serving on this project will support this goal primarily through community volunteer engagement, communication, development and stewardship. This position is in Spokane, in Eastern Washington, about 20 miles west of Idaho and 110 miles south of the Canadian border. Benefits include $675 biweekly living allowance. VISTA members who successfully complete the year receive their choice of either a Segal Education Award (valued at approximately $6,495) or a $1,800 cash stipend. AmeriCorps VISTA is the only AmeriCorps program where you can earn federal non-competitive eligibility, giving you an edge in the federal hiring process. All members in our program receive access to the CliftonStrengths assessment as a benefit of service and join a cohort of VISTA members throughout Spokane in professional and personal development opportunities. Additionally, the member placed at this project will receive mileage reimbursement or a bus pass, as well as parking assistance.
