ECO AmeriCorps Team Leader and Communications Specialist
 
 
 
ECO AmeriCorps members serve at organizations across Vermont implementing equitable strategies to improve water quality, restore habitats and build understanding and resiliency. We recognize service in our program is an entryway into the environmental and conservation fields and relish that responsibility. You are looking for greater confidence and capabilities, being selected into ECO allows you an open field to explore your interests with freedom and support. You will have access to many resources and connections that help you further emerge as the environmental leader you are. We amplify your passion for creating a change by curating well-rounded experiences that are well-organized and supported. ECO is available to people of all races, genders, abilities, identities, backgrounds, and interests. We provide a platform to further shape your career in environmental conservation, while placing feet on the ground in a fight for Vermont’s environment. We partner with municipalities, conservation districts, planning commissions, solid waste districts, and nonprofit organizations to monitor water quality, implement projects, provide outreach and education, and plan a restorative future. Projects may include: green infrastructure, supporting biodiversity, public outreach, project planning, digital mapping, data collection & surveys and curriculum development. We seek self-starters who are passionate about protecting nature. Priority may be given to those with degrees in the natural or agricultural sciences, environmental studies, communications, engineering, or government/policy; or to those with demonstrated skills in project coordination, volunteer management, communications, and/or mapping. Member Duties : The Team Leader responsibilities will depend in part to on the successful applicant’s strengths and career goals, and the needs of the 2024-2025 ECO cohort. Broadly, the role will provide direct support to ECO AmeriCorps members using a combination of empathy, creativity, energy and understanding of communication mediums to bring service members, alums, and community partners closer together. The Team Leader will assist with program planning, training curriculum, outreach and engaging storytelling. The role will also feature an opportunity to develop a special project with an environmental nonprofit that the successful applicant will work with ECO staff to identify and devote a large portion of service hours gaining knowledge in this community-based and experiential way. Essential functions such as leading the member equity and inclusion initiative will be expected. There is an opportunity to explore conservation in various ways in this role, depending on the applicant's interests.
