NYC VISTA Leader
 
 
 
Serve a year with NYC Service, a division of the Office of the Mayor, which builds partnerships to deepen and expand civic engagement through volunteer and service programs, creating sustainable change for our city's greatest needs. The NYC VISTA Leader will play a key role in mentoring and guiding 27 VISTA members through a year of service across 11 different City agencies throughout NYC. The NYC VISTA Leader will play a key role in planning professional development training, facilitating site visits, creating a strong and supportive VISTA community, recruiting VISTA members for the next program year, and reviewing and analyzing program data. This position is ideal for candidates who want to develop civic leadership and impact communities throughout New York City. To qualify for this position, you must have successfully completed one full term as a national service member. We are looking for an AmeriCorps alum with experience in facilitation, teamwork, and project management. The NYC VISTA Leader will be a part of the National Service Program team at NYC Service, a group of public servants managing three AmeriCorps programs administered by the City of New York. This is an opportunity to join a team within the Mayor’s Office dedicated to supporting 150+ AmeriCorps members serving throughout New York City. This VISTA position is a part of the NYC VISTA program, a group of 20+ VISTA members serving in New York City Government agencies supporting their anti-poverty work. The NYC VISTA program is administered by NYC Service, a division of the Office of the Mayor. This position is supervised directly by a city agency staff member and will be a part of the larger NYC VISTA community. Member Duties : The NYC VISTA Leader will be the primary point of contact for the 21 NYC VISTA members and their supervisors. Throughout the program term, the VISTA Leader will facilitate a successful year of service for the VISTA members by: • Conducting at least three site visits with each member and supervisor • Supporting VISTA members in creating solutions to any challenges they experience • Leading the Member Council, a group of members who plan and execute social and professional development events throughout service year • Collaborating with larger National Service Team to plan and implement events throughout the year to further support member networking, professional development, and morale • Leading the recruitment and selection of VISTA members for the 2023-2024 program term • Reviewing monthly data submitted from the VISTA members on the service year impact The VISTA Leader will have flexibility in developing and implementing project plans throughout the service year.
