Family Permanency VISTA
 
 
 
The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes safety and well-being of New York City’s children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care and education services. The Division of Family Permanency Services (FPS) within ACS ensures that high quality services are provided to children in foster care. This role involves community engagement outreach & events, communications and research. The VISTA will actively participate in events that directly involve LGBTQ youth, youth and parents in foster care, and will also work to support the Parent Advisory Council (PAC), which the VISTA will provide technical assistance to. In addition the VITSA will play an active role in providing logistical support to the PAC as the host of community based events to reunified families or families affected by the child welfare system. To learn more about our agency visit: nyc.gov/acs This VISTA position is a part of the NYC VISTA program, a group of 25+ VISTA members serving in New York City Government agencies supporting their anti-poverty work. The NYC VISTA program is administered by NYC Service, a division of the Office of the Mayor. This position is supervised directly by a city agency staff member and will be a part of the larger NYC VISTA community. Member Duties : The VISTA member will work in four main capacities: • Update information on ACS Connect Me website • Plan & coordinate wellness events to promote diversity at ACS • Support members of the PAC to provide events that benefits LGBTQ youth, children and youth in foster care, foster and adoptive parents. • Represent the division at meetings
