NYC Care VISTA

The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) works to enhance the economic, civic, and social integration of immigrant New Yorkers; facilitate access to justice for immigrant New Yorkers; and advocate for continued immigration reforms at all levels of government to eliminate inequities that impact New York's immigrant communities. The NYC Care Outreach VISTA will work with the NYC Care Program Manager to rollout NYC Care Outreach in the remaining boroughs and ensure all partners have the necessary information and materials to connect New Yorkers to NYC Care. NYC Care is a healthcare access program that guarantees low-cost and no-cost services to New Yorkers who do not qualify or cannot afford health insurance. They will analyze partner data weekly to identify successful outreach tactics and provide feedback and guidance to partner organizations. The VISTA will be expected to travel across the city to conduct observations of partner outreach. We are looking for a candidate with knowledge of the immigrant community (preferably but not required familiarity of the immigrant New Yorker communities), who has strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and is passionate about healthcare access for the most vulnerable people in our city and supporting community-based organizations in their outreach work. Bilingual preferred but not required. This VISTA position is a part of the NYC VISTA program, a group of 25+ VISTA members serving in New York City Government agencies supporting their anti-poverty work. The NYC VISTA program is administered by NYC Service, a division of the Office of the Mayor. This position is supervised directly by a city agency staff member and will be a part of the larger NYC VISTA community.
