Summer Associate - Literacy Outreach VISTA

The Lee County Literacy Coalition (LCLC) is committed to opening doors for adult learners and families by strengthening foundational skills in reading, writing, and math. Through targeted and accessible learning experiences, LCLC elevates job readiness and supports lifelong success. Increased literacy rates help break cycles of poverty, improve K–12 academic performance, strengthen economic mobility, and enhance emotional and physical well-being across communities. LCLC addresses critical needs by providing free, community-centered programs that empower adults and families to thrive. All services are offered at no cost, tailored to each learner’s goals, and delivered by staff and trained volunteer tutors. Core services include one-to-one tutoring, GED preparation, ESL instruction, Driver’s Education, and literacy workshops focused on family engagement, financial wellness, health literacy, and digital/workplace skills. If you’re a self-starter, someone who believes in empowering others, and you’re excited to build meaningful, fulfilling connections, this is your moment! Your encouragement can spark confidence. Your consistency can open doors. Your kindness can change the trajectory of someone’s life. This summer, choose to make an impact that lasts far beyond the season.

Member Duties : Summer Associates will contribute to capacity-building efforts through the following activities: • Outreach and Engagement: Support pop-up libraries, information tables, and flyer distribution to reach an estimated 600 potential learners, with an anticipated outcome of 150 new learner enrollments. • Program Support: Assist with learner/tutor pairing, one-to-one reading tutoring, and facilitation of literacy workshops.
