Athens Library Summer Associate 2023

The Athens Regional Library offers a wide range of services and programming for the Athens, GA area community, including tens of thousands of visits by children. Summer programs are intended to engage a diverse population of children and young adults in educational programming that promotes reading and learning during out-of-school time in an effort to prevent summer learning loss. Programming through the Young Adult and Children's Department includes book clubs, story times, puppet shows, a Summer Reading Program, early childhood literacy programs, and special events. Two Summer Associates will help support summer programming.

Member Duties : Two Summer Associates will assist the Athens Regional Library Young Adult and Children's Department Staff in implementing summer programming for children ages 0 to 17. This includes promoting the summer reading program, including signing up children and youth; distributing recognitions; promoting the program to community partners; and assisting library staff with summer reading programs, take-home activities, and other library programs, as well as with special projects and community outreach.
