SerVermont - Green Mountain Transit VISTA

The mission of Green Mountain Transit (GMT) is to promote and operate safe, convenient, accessible, innovative and sustainable public transportation services in the northwest and central Vermont region that reduce congestion and pollution, encourage transit-oriented development and enhance the quality of life for all. GMT provides access through fixed route public transportation to jobs, grocery stores, medical appointments and key destinations throughout our service area. GMT also provides shuttles from senior housing complexes to local supermarkets and neighborhood specials for student transportation to Burlington schools. In addition, GMT also provides demand response medical shuttles, and service to elders and persons with disabilities.

Member Duties : The VISTA at GMT will focus on meeting the following goals: increased community participation, strengthened operating systems, and increased coordination between poverty-focused programs and other community services. The VISTA's service will include the following strategies and objectives: • Help manage and grow a volunteer-based outreach team. This team will act as additional eyes and ears for the organization and help expand the use of transit through a travel training program.
