VCRD is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of locally-defined progress of Vermont’s rural communities. VCRD is a dynamic partnership of federal, state, local, nonprofit and private partners. Actively non-partisan with an established reputation for community-based facilitation, VCRD is uniquely positioned to sponsor and coordinate collaborative efforts across governmental and organizational categories concerned with policy questions of rural import. Our mission is to help VT citizens build prosperous and resilient communities through democratic engagement, marshalling resources, and collective action. VCRD serves communities throughout Vermont through a comprehensive set of programs that provide holistic support, training, coaching, facilitation, and leadership development for communities and community leaders. These services include: - Deep community facilitation and priority-setting processes through our proven Community Visit Program. Resulting initiatives boost engagement and connection, improve economic opportunity and jobs, and support all community members, especially the most vulnerable. - Engagement of community volunteers – especially new and emerging leaders - Community leadership support, technical assistance, coaching and workshops - Direct technical assistance and coaching for community volunteers - Annual Summits that bring together leaders from across the state to showcase, highlight, and connect local leadership Additionally, VCRD regularly adds up what we are hearing across communities and builds statewide policy conversations to address issues ranging from the digital economy, the climate economy, and the working landscape, to a broad Statewide discussion on the Future of Vermont. VCRD believes in the power of local democracy and collective action to help communities identify what is most important for a prosperous and vital future for their communities and the people that live in them!
