Women in Transitions -Former Incarcerated Capacity Building
 
 
 
The Women in Transition Initiative is a collaboration between Transplanting Traditions Community Farm, Benevolence Farm, and AmeriCorps VISTA CNCS which focuses on employment and workforce development strategies through agricultural-based social enterprise programs as a tool for overcoming and preventing poverty. The initiative seeks to ensure that North Carolina women facing major transitions (refugees, immigrants, formerly incarcerated, and others) gain the educational and professional skills needed to improve their economic situation. The AmeriCorps VISTA Enterprise Production Coordinator will focus their efforts on improving organizational capacity to increase economic outcomes for formerly incarcerated women. This will be achieved through new and improved agricultural small-business development programming for women recently transitioning from prison. The VISTA member will work with the organizational staff to strengthened marketing opportunities for the small body enterprise products created by program participants. Activities will include conducting partner outreach, development of quality controls, management processes, and research to support for improved products and distribution. Candidates should demonstrate strong written, oral, and communication skills. Candidates are expected to collaborate in team settings with diverse experiences and conduct themselves professionally at community events.
