Women in Transitions -Former Incarcerated Capacity Building
The Women in Transition Initiative is a collaboration between Transplanting Traditions Community Farm, Benevolence Farm, and AmeriCorps VISTA CNCS which focuses on employment and workforce development strategies through agricultural-based social enterprise programs as a tool for overcoming and preventing poverty. The initiative seeks to ensure that North Carolina women facing major transitions (refugees, immigrants, formerly incarcerated, and others) gain the educational and professional skills needed to improve their economic situation. The Americorps VISTA Social Enterprise Coordinator will provide more living wage employment opportunities to formerly incarcerated women. This will be achieved through strengthened marketing, in-person event opportunities, and mutually beneficial partnerships. Candidates should demonstrate strong written, oral, and communication skills. Candidates are expected to collaborate in team settings with diverse experiences and conduct themselves professionally at community events.
