This Digital Outreach Associate will be hosted by the Garfield Park Community Council (GPCC) located in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago. GPCC is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program on Housing Action’s website. The Digital Outreach Associate will work with the GPCC’s Wellness Initiative and Communications team to increase access to healthy food and food security and interrupt the cycle of poverty on Chicago’s West Side. GPCC is a community-building organization made up of dedicated residents and allies working together to develop leaders and create opportunities and programs that build a vital Garfield Park community. An ideal candidate for this position is someone who is a swift learner who can work on a variety of projects. This person needs to be able to work well with others, as well as with a diverse group of people including Garfield Park residents and organization staff. Experience with photography, videography, graphic design, creative writing, or research and data analysis is preferred but not required. Garfield Park is a primarily and historically African American community, and GPCC seeks AmeriCorps members who display a commitment to racial equity and inclusion.
