Ending Hunger Corps, Regional School Unit 13, Rockland, ME

School district RSU#13, serving 1,550 students in the heart of Midcoast Maine, is a learning community that ensures safe inclusion and responsive culture that fosters relationships and the academic, social, and emotional growth of all learners. The School Meal Champion & Outreach VISTA will improve school meal culture by identifying perceptions and participation barriers among students and families and convening school staff and community partners to identify possible solutions. Arrive with your excitement to make changes and learn! Facilitate community meetings, form lasting relationships, study what works and what challenges exist. Create surveys, analyze data, then meet with community partners to formulate your plan! Develop exciting and lasting outreach and media tools all while creating a plan for sustainable implementation and sharing tools with other districts. We’re looking for someone with strong organizational skills, who is self-directed, easy-going, and can be a great communicator with students, administrators, and school board members. This is a great opportunity to apply your passion to make a difference in the lives of families and build a system of support that will leave a lasting effect on children and families lives. Midcoast Maine is filled with stunning sunrises and sunsets, calming beaches, a harbor that comes alive with lobster boats and small sail boats, and is home to many national events: the lobster festival, jazz festival, Thomaston July 4th celebration, and more. Ferry to 5 small islands for day trips, visit the Farnsworth Museum, eat at unique restaurants after a walk on the boardwalk and a stroll through town, and day trip to nearby state parks. Email DMilliard@RSU13.org for more information. This position is part of Ending Hunger Corps, a 25-member cohort model VISTA program sponsored by Maine's Department of Agriculture, Conservation, Forestry (DACF): https://www.maine.gov/dacf/about/commissioners/endhunger/
