Arthaus AmeriCorps Summer Creativity Teammate

AmeriCorps VISTAs will work in the rural communities of Winneshiek County, Iowa surveying families and other non-profits (churches, libraries, museums) to see what programs are lacking. Following observation the VISTAs will lead camps in painting, clay, theater and STEAM or other camps that the students are interested in. They will get to know the tiny communities, their struggles and their needs. Provide positive youth experiences that build creative problem solving in youth, a skill proven to help youth make lasting change.

Member Duties : The VISTA will reach out to community resources and build summer art and theater camps. They will lead the camps and gather surveys at the end to help with next years programming. There is a house that ArtHaus provides for a group living space for all AmeriCorps. A vehicle can also be shared for work projects. There are no language requirements, but a Spanish or Samali speaking individual may be able to connect with some communities that we have not been able to in the past.
