Eco3.23 Summer VISTA - YES Network

The Lakes Area Yes Network is dedicated to creating vibrant, loving, prosperous neighborhoods through our support of children and families in the places they call home. We are new to the Detroit Lakes area, but across Minnesota, Yes Network has grown from an all-volunteer group providing food for children in low-income neighborhoods in 2011 to one of the top 5 non-profits in Minnesota in the number of summer meals served. We will also include summer programs that bring children together for meals, organized outdoor games, enrichment activities, art/music, and youth leadership development. Together, these components encourage good nutrition, summer learning, physical and mental health, as well as social emotional well-being.

Member Duties : Member Duties: 1) VISTAs will help serve both breakfast and lunch to children in low-income neighborhoods, this providing increased food security to families with scarce resources. 2) VISTAs will also provide age-appropriate activities that keep children active, help them develop new skills, and keep them safe. 3) VISTAs will provide educational and enrichment activities that help children learn new ideas, use their imagination, and express themselves creatively.
