Campus Compact James Madison University Church World Service
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps member will work with a team of colleagues who speak more than 12 languages to design and coordinate individual and group classes to help prepare newcomers to thrive in the community by increasing their financial literacy and job readiness. The AmeriCorps member will collaborate closely with JMU and other local universities to train and mobilize volunteers to serve their community, to improve volunteer management systems, and increase the reach of community outreach efforts. The AmeriCorps member will identify and cooperate with community partners to increase the capacity of the Harrisonburg community to serve its newest members. Finally, the AmeriCorps member will work to ensure the sustainability of this programming by training and preparing volunteers and community partners to carry out the work at the end of the VISTA project period. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $675.08. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide a public transit pass, fitness center access, and access to professional development. The AmeriCorps member serving at Church World Service will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : 1. Recruit, train, and manage volunteers who will support job readiness, financial literacy, and related programs. 2. Enhance existing curricula related to job readiness and financial literacy, and develop new curricula based on the changing needs of the client population. 3. Build and strengthen relationships and communication with community and campus partners, including faculty, and student groups. 4. Provide support and coordination assistance to job readiness and financial literacy programs. 5. Assist with the development and implementation of evaluation and assessment tools. 6. Collect and compile data. 7. Research funding opportunities and resources to ensure program sustainability. 8. Plan for a gradual transition from remote and one-on-one to in-person group program activities as it becomes safe to do so. 9. Identify and cultivate relationships with partners who can be a part of the program self-sufficiency transition plan. 10. Other duties as assigned.
