Resources include food, household staples, hygiene products and connection to community resources. Shippensburg University’s mission: Student learning and personal development through highly effective and innovative teaching, complemented by a wide variety of out-of-class experiences, continue to serve as the hallmark of Shippensburg University education. Rebranding the entire food pantry program, create a system of regular volunteers to staff food pantry, outreach to student body, build relationships with campus partners, become knowledgeable on community resources and referral options, create and implement educational workshops around food insecurity and budgeting for students

Member Duties : The VISTA will oversee the efforts needed to provide SNAP education, and support to staff, assess efficiency in stocking Big Red's Cupboard, sit on the Hunger Taskforce, and create relationships in the broader Shippensburg community. The Year 2 project will focus on the following activities: continuing to improve the daily and overall functions of Big Red's Cupboard, increase campus awareness and partnerships, expanding the existing volunteer program, sit on the Hunger-Free campus task force, continuously seek donations and funds to support the Cupboard, assist with the development of a SNAP education program on campus, and implement research programs to understand the logistics of Big Red's Cupboard the students who use the services. These goals and activities will further the efforts currently being made to provide support to students facing hunger and/or basic needs insecurity on campus.
