UCA Food Insecurity VISTA Summer Associates

The University of Central Arkansas Division of Outreach and Community Engagement connects campus with the community through a variety of programs and services. Located in Conway, Arkansas, the University of Central Arkansas aspires to be a premier learner-focused public comprehensive university, a nationally recognized leader for its continuous record of excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, scholarly and creative endeavors, and engagement with local, national, and global communities. UCA Summer Associates will join the university's efforts to address grand challenges in our community and will address the root causes of poverty through food security initiatives in our local community with the Bear Essentials Food Pantry and UCA campus garden, CAPCA Summer Market, and Conway Ministry Center Storehouse Food Pantry.

Member Duties : The UCA Summer Associates will work with one of three food pantries in Conway, Arkansas-- the Bear Essentials Food Pantry, the CAPCA Student Market, and the Conway Ministry Center Storehouse Food Pantry-- to increase the capacity of each client-choice food pantry to assess community need, develop partnerships for expanded community outreach, and increase access to fresh, healthy foods. This Summer Associates' key objectives will include supporting the implementation of each client-choice food pantry, increasing the organization’s outreach to underserved areas of the community, and supporting the organization’s efforts to increase access to fresh, healthy foods.
