Town of Cowen Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
The Town of Cowen has been steadily building its' recreation economy through its' relationship with WV Community Development Hub over the past several years. The community has completed CultivateWV, currently is completing The Hub's Communities of Achievement Program (HubCAP), and will begin Downtown Appalachia: Revitalizing Recreational Economies (DARRE) later in 2022. This VISTA project will support the continued growth of capacity as the Town continues to build a local economy that is supported by the outdoor recreation assets it has available as a Mon Forrest gateway community. Through relationship building, the member will identify new and emerging needs of local businesses, and in partnership with The Hub's community coach and the Town, will identify solutions. By supporting a collaborative environment within the community, The Town will build a more cohesive and integrated community of people and organizations that will work together for the common goal. With a population of less than 500, The Town of Cowen is a small community with big heart!

Member Duties : During their year of service, the member will focus on relationship and system building. Activities may include, but are not limited to: - Identifying and proposing potential projects for the community, which will foster growth and engagement - Supporting pursuit of grants - Developing and implementing organization and tracking systems to keep a pulse of community projects - Seeking professional development opportunities when knowledge gaps arise - Creating a community resource database - Building partnerships with community stakeholders - Leading community groups to identify new and emerging challenges
