Ending Hunger Corps, ME Women, Infants, Children Nutrition

Are you passionate about nutrition, farms, and meeting new people? Maine Women, Infant and Children (WIC) is searching for a VISTA Promotions Specialist to enhance WIC’s outreach and eWIC program. The VISTA will increase WIC’s capacity to serve Mainers who make less than 185% of the federal poverty line and are pregnant or have small children. WIC is a supplemental food and nutrition program serving 16,000 Mainers by providing healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding supports and referrals to other services. Our VISTA will be passionate about ending hunger in Maine and ensuring that every person in the state who is eligible for WIC has access to the resources they deserve. The VISTA will do this specifically by working with Maine farmers throughout the state to get their eWIC certificate, developing WIC and nutritional outreach materials, conducting outreach, and more! WIC is a busy but exciting place to work. The WIC VISTA Promotions Specialist will attend events throughout Maine on behalf of WIC and the Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program. Based at the Maine CDC office in Augusta, this position requires basic computer knowledge and statewide travel with mileage reimbursement. We provide our VISTA member with professional development in their areas of interest. This position is part of Maine’s historic goal of ending hunger in the state by 2030 as part of Ending Hunger Corps, a 25-member cohort model VISTA program sponsored by Maine's Department of Agriculture, Conservation, Forestry (DACF): https://www.maine.gov/dacf/about/commissioners/endhunger/
