2022 Habitat Summer Rock the Block VISTA - Sheboygan
 
 
 
The goal of the Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin VISTA Program is to build a better Wisconsin by assisting local organizations increase capacity and sustainability for programs focused on alleviating poverty, while developing new leadership to help strengthen Wisconsin’s communities and move them “forward.” With passion, commitment, and hard work, our VISTAs help affiliates bring individuals & communities out of poverty. Habitat for Humanity Lakeside was founded in January of 1993, with their main office located in the bustling town of Sheboygan, known as “The Spirit on the Lake” - and also, the surfing capital of Lake Michigan! HFH Lakeside has served over 50 families, operates one ReStore, and has built 28 homes.

Member Duties : As the Community Outreach VISTA you will increase participation in the fall Rock the Block event in Sheboygan’s Gateway Neighborhood through community outreach efforts, securing 15 home repair projects, 30 volunteers, and 12 crew leaders. Activities include: 1) Identify potential outreach opportunities, such as flier distribution, neighborhood meetings, and gathering places such as senior centers. 2) Train and mobilize community groups and volunteers to spread the word and distribute information. 3)Represent Habitat and Rock the Block at external community meetings and events. Generate excitement around Rock the Block. 4)Connect with homeowners. Answer questions. Help them complete applications. 5)Build on the existing Crew Leader recruitment plan. 6)Develop a recruitment & marketing plan. **Interviews are done on a rolling basis. Please submit an application as soon as possible to ensure consideration. Selection may be made before deadline date posted.**
