Student Resource Specialist VISTA
 
 
 
As a VISTA member at Texas Southmost College, you will help disrupt the cycle of poverty in an underserved region by designing a customized anti-poverty initiative. Major functions include leading ongoing assessment of the TSC student body’s access to basic needs, developing and implementing of anti-poverty pilot projects and events, pursuing collaboration opportunities and resources to provide sustainability for implementation, and designing and implementing an evaluation plan for antipoverty projects and events. Located at the tip of Texas, adjacent to Mexico and 20 miles from South Padre Island, Texas Southmost College is a medium-sized community college located on the grounds of historic Fort Brown. VISTAs will promote social justice in a bicultural environment while building skills in leadership, project management, and communication. The candidate should possess the following knowledge and skills: strong organizational skills; ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with students, college employees and the public; ability to handle sensitive and extensive confidential data; and the ability to perform and excel in a high-tech all-digital environment.

Member Duties : The VISTA will lead ongoing assessment of the TSC student body’s access to basic needs (food and shelter), lead the development and implementation of anti-poverty pilot projects and events, pursue collaboration opportunities and resources to provide sustainability for implementation, and design and implement an evaluation plan for antipoverty projects and events.
