2022 - 2023 Outreach & Program Enhancement VISTA

This Outreach & Program Enhancement VISTA will be hosted by Habitat for Humanity DuPage County & Chicago South Suburbs (H4HDCCSS) located in Wheaton, IL. H4HDCCSS is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program on Housing Action’s website. While the vast majority of Americans feel stable and secure in their current situation, housing insecurity touches nearly half of adults at some point in their lives. This VISTA position will address these needs through outreach to community organizations and individuals educating them about our Homeownership and Home Repair Programs. This includes supporting and leading information sessions, as well as connecting community members to other resources they may need to support their journey to home ownership. Desired outcomes: 1) Communication strategies to engage individuals to share about our mission. 2) Develop systems that tracks individual's requests, referral information, and how to contact them in the future. 3) Expand relationships with 5 partners in the community each quarter to deepen their understanding of our programs and allow for further interaction between organizations. 4) Implementation of systems and/or programs that are sustainable and will continue at the host site after the completion of the VISTA term by developing manuals and training staff/volunteers on the new systems. The ideal candidate for this position is organized, patient, and task-driven. This position requires confidentiality, and compassion for what clients are going through. In addition, this AmeriCorps should be able to compile and analyze data to influence program outreach and marketing efforts.
