Campus Compact Southern Connecticut State University

As part of SCSU’s Sustainability Office, the AmeriCorps member will assist in planning, piloting, and scaling an integrated team-based approach through four participation pathways to increase food security for SCSU’s campus community and local residents. Stage one: gathering data from campus and external partners to benchmark through surveys, interviews, focus groups, meetings, and research. Stage two: pilot interdisciplinary collaboration in service-learning, volunteering, operations, and research. Current projects include food recovery and donation, the campus community garden and food pantry, local community gardens and urban farms, STEM research, and public health outreach programs. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $613.48. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide on-campus housing, a parking pass, food & grocery gift cards, and fitness center access. The AmeriCorps member serving at SCSU will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. If you would like to learn more about serving with Campus Compact, please email our VISTA Leaders at vista@compact.org.
