UMN Morris, Stevens County Food Systems,IA&MN Campus Compact
The Center for Community Partnerships at UMN Morris is working with partners in Stevens County to improve the food system and food security. The Center’s mission is “to foster campus-community collaborations that address needs in small towns,” and its vision is “to work toward more vibrant and equitable rural communities.” In this phase of the project, the VISTA, faculty, students, and community partners will work toward establishing and sustaining new food-related efforts that address recommendations from a community needs and assets assessment. These include a mobile food shelf, a community garden, and other efforts to address barriers to food access in the county. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
