Campus Compact- College of DuPage Food Pantry

The AmeriCorps member serving at College of DuPage Food Pantry will serve as part of a multi-disciplinary group of faculty, staff and students called the College of DuPage Food Security Initiative who are committed to fighting food insecurity for our students. Over the last four years, we have grown the Fuel Pantry and Garden into an inspiring operation that supports our students who are facing food insecurity. Some ways in which our VISTA will help advance this project is by investigating ways that we can provide more educational opportunities to both campus and community members in nutrition and healthy eating; research and make recommendations on ways to increase our funding; investigate ways in which we can expand our resources for basic needs, and continue the work of previous VISTAs in using research and assessment to strengthen our programs. The VISTA will accomplish this by actively being involved in research; building relationships with community partners, assisting in the creation of materials, and making recommendations for the future success of the initiative. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $675.08 in DuPage County, IL. The AmeriCorps member serving at College of DuPage Food Pantry will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. If you would like to learn more about serving with Campus Compact, please email our VISTA Leaders at vista@compact.org.
