North Hennepin Community College, IA & MN Campus Compact

North Hennepin Community College is a diverse, open-access institution located in the Twin Cities metro area, driven by our mission of Engaging Students, Changing Lives. We believe in creating opportunities for students to reach their goals and dreams to make a difference for themselves, their families, and community. We are committed to closing the achievement gap for college students, and we are investing in basic needs and holistic support for our most at-risk students and fighting poverty, through an inclusive and equity-minded lens. The VISTA will be a critical part of the CARE Center and Food Cupboard team by establishing new partnerships with community organizations focused on basic needs and food access supports. The VISTA will create new campus food rescue and other food access programs, plan events for students to access these resources (resource fairs, workshops, mobile food markets, etc), and help increase overall awareness and usage of the services. In addition, the VISTA will help expand and improve upon the on-campus Food Cupboard practices, policies, training, and services available. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until filled, with priority by June 1st. Hours are flexible and some remote work available. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. ***Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
