Campus Compact Wheaton College Attleboro YMCA

The AmeriCorps member will be key to helping create systems to ease the stress of families being impacted by food insecurity and will work at the Attleboro YMCA and Wheaton College’s Center for Social Justice and Community Impact (SJCI) that drives civic and community engagement for the campus. The overarching goal of this project is to have a long-term impact on the Attleboro community by addressing food insecurity. People’s inability to purchase the food they need has increased dramatically in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Attleboro YMCA and Wheaton College will work with Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro Public Schools, and the Hebron Food Pantry among others, to strengthen support for low-income individuals and families in Attleboro, MA. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $791.70. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide on-campus housing, a parking, and public transit pass, fitness center access, and a meal allowance at Wheaton's dining hall. The AmeriCorps member serving at Wheaton College will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. If you would like to learn more about serving with Campus Compact, please email our VISTA Leaders at vista@compact.org.
