Campus Compact University of Illinois at Chicago
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) will work to create a bridge between the institution and local nonprofit agencies, through the development of a centralized community partner database. Part of this process will include outreach to faculty, staff, and students at UIC, as well as to known community partners. Assisted by a committee of campus and community partners, the VISTA will develop and implement assessments that measure UIC’s impact on nonprofits and the communities they serve, emphasizing educational needs in low-income communities. The VISTA will develop new partnerships with additional organizations, especially those in two Chicago neighborhoods that have faced disproportionate hardships and that have been identified as institutional priority neighborhoods – Greater Lawndale and Auburn-Gresham. The AmeriCorps VISTA will assume oversight of the Galaxy Digital service platform and support its use by community organizations and internal partners. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $675.08 in Cook County, Illinois. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide access to professional development and training opportunities The AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Illinois Chicago will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : Responsibilities for the UIC AmeriCorps position include: Development of a database for community organizations and their affiliated campus partners; data-gathering on community partnership details and disparities, through research and campus/community partner outreach; collaboration with university committees on assessment development and response analysis; development and implementation of pre-and annual assessments for community organizations regarding their relationship with the university and the communities they serve; oversight of the Galaxy Digital platform and its use by community organizations and internal partners and stakeholders.
