*MTCC AmeriCorps College Coach - TRIO-Upward Bound Uni of MT

The University of Montana, TRIO-Upward Bound is funded by the US Department of Education to provide the requisite academic skills and motivation that qualifying students will need for success in post-secondary education. Our goal is to help low-income and first-generation students in Missoula and Browning get to college and be successful! As an AmeriCorps College Coach, you will have a passion for creating educational opportunities for high school students who aim to attend college and be successful in the classroom. You will be persistent and patient in recruiting and academic mentoring high school students. Every day will be a little different in this role but part of your duties will include recruiting and mentoring students, assisting in planning college trips, summer excursions, and community service, and helping with office tasks such as mailing information out to students, distributing flyers in the high schools we serve, and creating social media posts. The University of Montana is Montana’s flagship university, which sets a high bar for academic studies, creative accomplishments, and scientific exploration. This enriches our students, our community, and the world at large. The University draws a diverse global population to Missoula – our home and the state’s second-largest city – and helps cultivate an educated, engaged, and vibrant community. Our students receive a world-class education in a broad range of subjects that include the trades, liberal arts, sciences, graduate and postdoctoral study, and professional training. Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project. MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.
