Campus Compact- UMASS Lowell

The goal of this AmeriCorps project is to sustainably support RHSA's expansion of supports to include a living-learning community, expansion into students’ sophomore year, and “Pathways to Employment” services (including job interview training, access to professional attire, and networking opportunities with regional businesses) while maintaining a clear and intentional set of strategies for serving its primary population of students from low-income backgrounds. As RHSA evolves and expands, we require an approach that will allow us to continue to leverage our recent successes into ongoing, permanent solutions that level the academic playing field for the diverse students we serve and that mitigates the influence that a student’s socio-economic background has on their ability to excel in college and move successfully into the workforce, earning the lifelong financial stability that a college degree can bring. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $1,027.88. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide access to free or reduced courses, fitness center access, Access to professional development training, an internet or phone stipend for remote work, and possible on-campus housing depending on COVID-19 conditions. The AmeriCorps member serving at UMASS Lowell will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. If you would like to learn more about serving with Campus Compact, please email our VISTA Leaders at vista@compact.org.
