Dayton Cooks!-Communication Leader

Miami Valley Meals (MVM) and Dayton Cooks! (DC) are coordinating efforts to gain a more well-rounded understanding of food insecurity in their respective nonprofits. We believe this can be done through strengthening our volunteer, fundraising, communication, and engagement efforts, both internally and externally. Our goal is to amplify voices in the fight to be a more food secure city. MVM creates and donates nutritious meals, free of charge, through a network of nonprofit partners. This opens doors to further services addressing homelessness, case management or physical and mental health care. Wesley Community Center partners with Grace United Methodist Church to implement DC. DC’s 10-week training program has a mission to change the lives of income eligible persons with a culinary arts career through rigorous training in food safety and prep, kitchen, job, and life skills. Healthy and nutritious meals prepared by DC are served to income eligible children in afterschool programs.
