UAMS Northwest Farm to Institution-VISTA Year 1
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps VISTA member will support Farm to Institution (FTI) research and activities in Arkansas. This service will improve the state’s capacity and access to locally produced and processed food and farm products to Arkansas institutions, including schools, universities, libraries, correctional facilities, and other state agencies. Through this member’s efforts, they will nurture and grow relationships with Arkansas institutions, food distributors, local growers and producers, foodservice professionals, support service providers, and food systems leaders in the state. This member will build knowledge on how to develop a more unified and expansive local food system, centering equity, justice, and sustainability. Overall, this member with contribute to the expansion of Arkansas’s local food system and the evolution of consumer behavior in the local food space.

Member Duties : The VISTA Member will fight poverty by building knowledge and capacity for a more unified and expansive local food system through research, writing, networking, outreach, dissemination, project stability and sustainability efforts that will improve the state’s capacity and access to locally produced and processed food and farm products in Arkansas institutions.
