Rural Dynamics - Montana World Trade Center (MWTC) VISTA

Foreign direct investment in rural communities can be transformational, providing well-paying jobs and significant capital investment. Be a part of Montana World Trade Center's pioneering work helping to bring foreign direct investment to Montana. As this project covers the entire state of Montana, the VISTA member may either work from Montana World Trade Center's main office in Missoula or they may work remotely. Occasional in-state travel will allow you to build your network while helping other economic development organizations around the state with this subset of their business attraction efforts. Additionally, the VISTA member may be asked to participate in the Select USA Investment Summit which occurs annually in Washington DC. Day-to-day work will include updating and creating collateral materials showcasing Montana’s industry-specific business case, development of FDI prospects, assistance in responding to request for information from FDI prospects, stakeholder outreach, and other related duties as assigned. Member Duties : The VISTA will develop an equitable communications plan to connect with Indigenous-led organizations participating with the project and are a part of the resource map. The VISTA will work alongside MWTC staff to plan and attend events with key stakeholders to include as part of the resource map, increasing visibility of rural and Tribal communities. The VISTA will gather information for the database, determine what resources need to be updated or added, and develop a tracking system to ensure an accurate count of organizations who receive services. Identifying underrepresented rural and Tribal communities in Montana to better understand certain areas of the state will be crucial. The VISTA will research capacity building opportunities through existing partnerships and by cultivating new ones. The VISTA will ensure sustainability by developing a strategy that upholds the research and implementation of the project and display how it can be sustainable after their finished service.
