Food Security & Community Coordinator VISTA, FareStart UWKC
 
 
 
***To be eligible for this position, you must commit to serving full-time for one year with FareStart.*** FareStart has been helping people transform their lives through food for 30 years – one person, one job and one community at a time. The VISTA will work closely with the Program Manager to increase the capacity of Food Security & Recovery Program. The VISTA member will serve within a large cohort of VISTA members working to fight poverty in King County.

Member Duties : The VISTA will fight poverty by building the capacity of engagement opportunities for food security organizations and individuals to improve the agency’s ability to provide incoming students to food service, job readiness, and life skills training opportunities they need to achieve financial stability. The Food Security and Community Coordinator VISTA will audit and build capacity within existing agency relationships, develop and maintain a perspective on regional food security and collaborate to develop strategies to align food recovery and food security goals. Successful applicants will have passion for the VISTA experience, effective written and verbal communication skills, experience working in nonprofits or public agencies, excellent organizational and creative problem-solving capabilities, emotional intelligence, and project and time management skills. This position requires collaboration, flexibility, and adaptability.
