UACE 4-H Camp Program Specialist
 
 
 
Located in the beautiful, cool Mingus Mountains, the James 4-H Camp & Outdoor Learning Center provides youth and adults, a state-wide residential camping experience. The Program Specialist Team will contribute to the expansion, development, and delivery of specialized programming. The Program Specialist Team will include the following positions: *Waterfront – Serves as the leader for aquatic activities for and open water two-acre pond Includes: swimming, boating, and fishing. Open-water, Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR and AED certification required prior to summer service *Environmental Educator – Serve as program leader for STEAM activities, and camp craft skills *Activity Leader – Leader for crafts, sports, and games *Culinary & Camp Kitchen Program Specialist Team Support Lead *Team Building and/or Shooting Sports – Specialized training is a pre-requisite PROGRAM LOCATION: The James 4-H Camp & Outdoor Learning Center - Located on 55 secluded acres at an elevation of 6,500 feet on Mingus Mountain, Northeast of Prescott, AZ. The last five miles is dirt road leading to the camp. The camp is 45 minutes to an hour away from the nearest town by car. AmeriCorps members live on property. Lodging and meals provided on-site

Member Duties : Program Specialist supervise & deliver direct program service that includes activity orientation, direct instruction, & support to youth, staff & volunteers. Ensures the general safety of campers, staff & volunteers at the waterfront, on the challenge course, hiking, archery range & activity areas. The Team will develop camp programing; plan camp & volunteer events; assist in camp logistics & kitchen duties; assist the counselors as a facilitator in the bunk houses; assist experiential learning activities for youth & adults. Waterfront Specialists also supervise the lifeguard team; manage any waterfront emergencies & lifeguard daily. The successful candidate will have experience with overnight educational experiences; understanding of youth safety procedures; volunteer management & working with youth experience. Must have transportation to & from camp; have a physical on file prior to hiring; ability to lift-up to 30 pounds; hike up to 5 miles & work irregular hours.
