*MTCC VISTA The Root and The Bloom Collective
The Root & The Bloom Collective is a humanities organization committed to bringing educational and humanist programming. The Root & The Bloom’s vision is to maintain The Chateau as an historical attraction and presence, making it available for tours, presentations, exhibits and community fundraising events. Our focus is on educational and community outreach, with a particular emphasis on youth. The Root & The Bloom Collective works collaboratively with local youth, creating tangible projects that can then be shared with the public. We work in unison with other civic and arts organizations, sharing ideas, events and resources. Our youth mission emphasizes the importance of literacy, community engagement, leadership, mental health and creative collaboration. The Chateau will become a host for community events that co-mingle adults with youth, and creating opportunities for intergenerational cross-pollination and organic mentorship. This VISTA project focuses on poverty alleviation by providing low-income youth with healthy alternatives outside school and exposes them to humanities, art, and history preservation as possible career paths. This project also alleviates poverty by proving college students with experiential learning and service opportunities to gain skills and experiences that could lead them to securing better, higher paying employment opportunities. Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project. MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.
