MHCDO Workforce Development VISTA
 
 
 
Our goal at MHCDO is to grow Ward 7 into DCs most welcoming, prospering, livable community for everyone. Our VISTA will work to reduce poverty and improve workforce outcomes. Including, secured employment, increased financial knowledge and improve job readiness skills by expanding opportunities, establishing job/career paths, and developing and implementing upward mobility strategies for low-income adults many of whom are underemployed returning citizens.

Member Duties : Our VISTA will work to reduce poverty and improve workforce outcomes, including learning about curriculum and recruit potential trainees for Retail Training Program; and collecting data and evaluating statistics to assist in assessment of community needs and to evaluate progress of upward mobility efforts for low-income citizens. The VISTA will plan and implement recruiting activities such as Outreach Fairs, Hiring Fairs, and Workforce Development Orientation Programs; and develop a Directory of Resources to be used by local libraries, service providers, case managers, elected officials, community leaders and others to more quickly identify sources of services in the community.
