City of Austin Mayor's Office VISTA
 
 
 
The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Member Duties : Transform the Austin Mayor’s Challenge into a self-sustaining entity outside the Mayor’s office. Establish social events for the Promoting Connectedness subcommittee to sustain independently. Expand collaboration between the City of Austin and community stakeholders. Engage with the City Manager’s Office to solidify the infrastructure for public-private partnerships relating to community issues of affordability. Expand the work of the Corporate Engagement Council, with a specific emphasis on tracking their partnerships and self-sustainability. Improve data tracking, stakeholder communications, and messaging strategy to allow the Mayor’s Office and community leaders to effectively continue their plan of housing 3,000 individuals in 3 years. Collect and visualize data to highlight efforts and success around homelessness. Develop and revise resources and tools as part of facilitated meetings with community members who can invest in solutions to homelessness.
