TSC VISTA 2022: Housing Authority of San Buenaventura
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of low-income communities. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in New York State and across the country. During their term of service members, will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA Leaders.

Member Duties : The Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura (HACSB) provides housing assistance, educational programs, and multiple resources to its residents. HACSB seeks innovative ways to introduce technology into the lives of its residents, since understanding the value of technology provides access to education and increased social and economic opportunities. In light of COVID, the VISTA will come up with creative ways to reach residents and increase the accessibility of the Housing Authority’s current resources. This will include digitizing forms, flyers, or other information items. In addition, the VISTA will make HACSB’s online portals more accessible, increasing ways to let the community and residents know what programming and assistance are available. The VISTA will also research what developments or resident communities have the lowest technology adoption, to formulate an action plan to get them connected, with the end goal of reaching 100% resident capacity use of resources.
