UWMF VISTA Program Coordinator
 
 
 
VISTA member will work closely with United We March Forward (UWMF) and its partners to empower the vulnerable population. Member will support families who are facing barriers to resources and opportunities in their own community. Member will do this in four ways, bridge the gap in English literacy, employment, support community outreach efforts and help sustain ongoing programs. VISTA member will coordinate activities, maintain communication with families and UWMF partners. The families we serve are diverse in culture and language. VISTA member that is bilingual or member that enjoys diversity and inclusion and is willing to engage in such endeavor is strongly encouraged for this position. Ideal candidate will be bilingual in one of the following languages with English: Swahili, Kirundi, French, or Arabic.

Member Duties : VISTA member will work closely with the vulnerable population in the City of Cedar Rapids. Member will support the community by addressing food insecurity, language barrier, employment and economic challenges. He or she will provide hope to families by addressing their community needs. Once member has received training and orientation, he or she will feel encourage to work closely with immigrant families that are served in order to break barriers that are simple to the everyday English native speaker. Member will work with ESL tutors and mentors to coordinate program activities and engagement. Member will assist with onsite and offsite program schedule while providing feedback for improvement. In order to educate, encourage and empower families it is vital that member fosters strong relationships with partners, volunteers and other affiliates of the organization. Working closely with the executive director and other personals will help member quickly become comfortable and independent.
