Scholarship System Development
Due to the nature of this position, the VISTA will be supervised by both the Director of Development and the Marketing Manager. The development and marketing teams both work closely together in order to raise funds for all of our programs, including scholarships, and also raise awareness of the Camp Fire brand and mission within the community. The scholarship process is something that is overseen by multiple departments internally, including the Registration department and Finance department, as well as Camp Fire Alaska leadership. Working together, the scholarship funds are obtained and awarded through outreach to families in need so that their children can attend summer camps as well as before and after school programs. Camp Fire Alaska strongly believes that every child should have the experience of summer camp and have the opportunity to find their spark alongside their peers.

Member Duties : The VISTA member’s service year will focus on evaluating the scholarship process at Camp Fire Alaska, identifying areas of need and potential growth within scholarships, and working to promote scholarships both to families in need and to potential supporters through marketing and storytelling. Building and strengthening community partnerships will be a large part of completing this work. The VISTA will have three major goals, which are to 1) establish a story collecting process and story bank to support marketing and development, 2) build a network of partners and donors to support donations for families in need of gear for Camp Fire programs, and 3) to create a plan for supporting families through the scholarship process.
