ServeWyoming VISTA-The Science Zone

The Science Zone is a non-profit organization that delivers educational services to students & families with the goal of eliminating poverty through STEAM careers exploration & raising the level of scientific exploration in the community. The Science Zone serves two fundamental purposes: 1) provide educational opportunities by offering classes, science clubs, field trips, outreach activities, & camps; 2) provide an enriching opportunity for experiential learning in a lively, ever-changing museum environment for families to experience together. The Science Zone strives to lift children & families out of poverty with opportunities to interact with science through exhibits, hands-on programming, demonstrations, camps, classes, clubs, & more. In addition to site-based programs, The Science Zone visits classrooms & welcomes field trips from impoverished & underserved populations across Wyoming. During the school year, we visit impoverished & underserved counties & welcomes field trips from communities that lack STEAM based programming. The Science Zone is an entity in a process of transition. We are a museum that moved to a new building space during the winter of 2021 & the process of redesigning & reshaping our exhibit space is ongoing. Additionally, The Science Zone is becoming a robust center of environmental education for students across the state with a focus on impoverished & underserved populations. For the past two years, we have been developing a robust outdoor experiential program & have a goal of expanding our capacity & reach to become one of Wyoming’s premier environmental education entities, lifting children & families out of poverty through the exploration of environmental science careers unique to Wyoming.
