YCAP Volunteer Program Coordinator - MCNW

Yamhill Community Action Partnership (YCAP), located in McMinnville, Oregon, exists to advocate and assist persons toward self-sufficiency throughout Yamhill County. Our community is part of the broader Willamette Valley and is designated as rural, with a strong local focus on agriculture and wine making. The VISTA member placed at our agency will develop the Shelter Access project, a program that aims to increase low barrier shelter access and build pathways to housing for persons living outside who have not sought traditional shelter. AmeriCorps VISTA members perform only indirect service; interaction with clients will be limited and the member will spend the majority of their time in an office setting. However, the YCAP VISTA will play a dynamic role in ending poverty by increasing low barrier shelter and supportive services in Yamhill County through recruiting increased volunteer support and creating and implementing a volunteer recruitment and training plan. Additionally, the VISTA member will create project marketing materials and conduct community outreach and engagement efforts to increase awareness of growing low barrier shelter programs, while soliciting community support for the financial and in-kind needs of local low barrier shelter programs. As a YCAP VISTA, you will be part of a larger cohort of AmeriCorps members coordinated by Mercy Corps Northwest. Because selections are made on a rolling basis, early applications are strongly encouraged.
