Stone Soup PDX Volunteer Coordinator - MCNW

At Stone Soup, you will create and implement a volunteer program that connects volunteers to opportunities to support workforce training of low-income participants for the hospitality and foodservice industry. Major functions will include leading the growth of the organization’s formal Friends of Stone Soup volunteer program and helping to expand Stone Soup’s volunteer base. VISTAs serve their communities through indirect service. While the programs you help strengthen will endure for years, you will have limited interaction with our clients and be based in a separate office setting. Applicants should hold either a 4-year degree, 4 years of experience, or a combination thereof in sociology, economics, social work, or business. Applicant should be creative, self-motivated, able to work collaboratively, provide timely feedback to senior leadership, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. The ideal applicant has experience with database development. The ideal candidate will also be a self-starter and will not need to be micromanaged, actively seeking new volunteer opportunities through research or personal creativity. The candidate will have the skills to communicate the needs of the Volunteer Program to Stone Soup leadership and provide constructive feedback as needed. Lastly, the ideal candidate is comfortable speaking in public and using those skills to build the Stone Soup network.
